BOONTON---David Cameron Yorkston, 76, passed away on Saturday, November 17, 2012 at Compassionate Care Hospice, Dover, following a long illness. Dave was a Vice-President of the Bank of New York, New York City, retiring in 1995 after working for 35 years in the banking industry. He earned his bachelor's degree and MBA from Wagner College and his Juris Doctorate from St. John's University School of Law. He was a member of the New York Bar Association. He served with the US Army during peacetime. A devoted husband, brother, father, grandfather, friend and Boonton citizen, Dave touched many lives with his wonderful sense of humor, honesty, forward thinking and patience. Boonton became his adopted hometown and he worked tirelessly for the betterment of the entire town by serving on the Planning Board, Board of Alderman (1992-1993) and various other organizations. He was the founding father of the Boonton Historic Preservation Commission and the Rockaway Street Historic District. He recently received the Boonton Citizen of the Year Award in 2012. Dave's other passion was basketball, which he played in high school, college, and the military. He leaves behind his loving wife of 36 years, Gail (nee Patterson); a son Douglas M. and his wife Susan; a daughter Robin J. Rummel and her husband Robert; two step-sons, Christopher D. Chappell and Andrew R. Chappell and his wife Susan; a sister Janet Y. Wassmuth and her husband James of Staten Island, NY; six cherished grandchildren, Chesney and Rebecca Rummel, and Kyle, Justin, Drew and Cameron Chappell. Also surviving are many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 21st at 11:00 A.M. at the Mackey Funeral Home ( www.mackeyfh.com), 107 Essex Ave., Boonton with interment to follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Boonton. Friends may call Tuesday from 4-7 PM only at the funeral home. Memorial contributions in Dave's name may be made to the Kiwanis Ambulance Service of Boonton, P.O. Box 16, Boonton, NJ 07005. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
