She heard the word of God being preached at an early age at Mount Zion and confessed Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior, was baptized, and became a full pledged member.

Jean remained faithful to the commitment of the church. She loved to sing and was singing since the age of 6 in the Rose Bud Choir under the direction of Sis. Rosie Violet Foote-Foster. Jean was a member of the Junior, Young Adult, Voices of Zion and the Combined Choirs. She also was an active member of the Sunday School, Junior and Senior Usher Board, Jr. Missionaries, Hospitality Ministry, the Dr. Robert O. Stafford Scholarship Ministry where she served as Treasurer, and was Chairperson of the Trustee Ministry.
