Obituary of Larry Helton

Larry Helton, 82 of Cisco, TX, formerly of Boonton, NJ, passed from this life on Saturday, February 10, 2024.

Larry was born in 1941 in Fort Benning, GA to Frank Helton and Gussie Ruth (Key)Helton. They moved to Boonton, NJ where he graduated from Boonton High School and played on the baseball team.

After graduation Larry worked for many years as a welder and in autobody repair and restoration. He married Norell Siebens in 1965. They moved from Montville NJ to Sherburne NY in 1977 with their daughter, and Larry eventually opened his own autobody shop. He became a valuable part of the community, joining the North Norwich NY Volunteer Fire Department, becoming an Esteemed Loyal Knight with Elks Lodge #1222 in Norwich NY, and a member of the New York State Norton Owners Association.

Larry married his second wife, Marylou Sumner, in 1998. Later that year they moved with her daughter and his extended family to Cisco, TX, where he worked for Cisco Paint and Body then Cisco High Lift, where he retired from.  He was a member of Mountain Top Church for 22 years and loved his church family.

Larry leaves behind his daughters, Veronica Carney and Luanne Sumner and her fiancé, Roger Thackerson; his grandchildren, Daniel Carney and his wife, Faith; Amber Carney, and Travis Byrd; his great-grandchildren, Carter Carney and River Carney; along with extended family. He was pre-deceased by his parents; his sister, Sandra Helton; and his son-in-law, Anthony Carney.

A memorial service will be held in Mountain Top Church in Cisco, TX on Saturday, February 24, 2024, at 11:00 am. Interment will be private at Montville Reformed Cemetery in Montville, NJ. To share a condolence with the family, please visit CodeyMackeyFH.com.
