Obituary of Richard Gantley Huhn
Richard G. Huhn, 67, of Boonton, NJ, passed away on Saturday, December 16, 2023.
Rich was born in July 1956 in Glen Ridge to John W. and Jane (Joe) Huhn. He grew up in Pequannock, one of six children. After graduating high school, Rich went on to work at Pompton Plains Hardware Store, Nabisco, Lowe’s in Warrington, PA and lastly as the Marketing & Event Coordinator for Trident Emergency Products in Hatboro, PA.
Rich was a longtime Pompton Plains/Pequannock volunteer firefighter and a proud one too. He enjoyed the camaraderie of the firemen brotherhood and grew to be Fire Chief. He helped design and engineer two rescue pumpers for his fire department. In his last year, he lived at the New Jersey Firemen’s Home in Boonton.
Compassionate, caring, quiet, and professional...these are words that describe Rich. He loved animals so much and enjoyed dog-sitting “Bailey” who is the dog of his close friend, June Guerrero. He longed to have a small dog of his own one day. Photography was his hobby, which turned into a life-long endeavor, providing professional services to his employer. He loved gadgets, Apple computers, and his six bicycles that he hoped to be back riding in the Spring of 2024. He enjoyed many close and trusted friends in his workplaces and the fire department.
A Memorial Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 28th from 10:00am to 12:00pm at Codey & Mackey Funeral Home of Boonton, followed by interment at the NJ Firemen’s Home Cemetery. To share a condolence or memory, please visit CodeyMackeyFH.com.
