I often accompanied at Marian's studio during my student years at Mannes. She was a wonderful, genuine, and caring lady and I carry beautiful memories of our professional relationship. She will be missed.

I will always remember Marion Thompson as a loving and caring teacher. She loved teaching and sharing her deep knowledge and stage experience with us, while giving in the most generous way all the encouragement we needed to open our wings and fly away with confidence. I will always keep in my heart the memory of her kindness, her sense of humour and her positive energy. I will always feel lucky to have met her and to have worked with a great person and great artist as herself. She will now be among the angels... Much love,
Katia from Athens, Greece

My dearest Marian, a wonderful voice teacher. I learned a lot from you. Your smile, your voice and especially your laugh will stay with us for always.
I am grateful for your teaching and your eagerness to sing.
In my first lesson I sang for you "Hab' ich nur Deine Liebe" from Suppe's Boccaccio. You were very happy to hear it and surprise too for not too many singers will sing it or know it. I loved to go in the library and dig for forgotten music to sing for you. I remember you asking me with a beaming face "what did you bring for me today?...goody, goody and or course, phooey let's do that again"
Thank you very much
luv always

I went to the lesson of Marian's for one year, when I've been short-term studying from Japan to NYC in 2005.
She was very kindly and warmly me who can also seldom still speak English, and she taught me various music.
Even now, I can't forget her beautiful and charming voice.
Please convey my deepest and most heartfelt sympathy to her and her family.

Marian was my first teacher at Mannes. She was very caring, kind and supportive in such a transition moment of my life as I had just moved to NYC from Brazil. I feel very fortunate to have met her and to learned from her.

Marian was one of my first teachers in the Extension Division at Mannes. She was always so nice and caring. It was very lovely to have her as a teacher so early in my student career. I am sad that she is gone.

I was fortunate enough to know Marian in both a professional and personal capacity. As a teacher, she had the remarkable ability to recognize what a person needed and help them move forward, no matter what skill level was involved. She was unfailingly polite, compassionate, and sympathetic, but also a true pedagogue, helping countless students move forward in their love of vocal music. She will be missed as a voice instructor, of course. But in fact, humanity itself has been diminished without her light in the world.
