Obituary of Elizabeth L. Bandura

Please share a memory of Elizabeth to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Betty Bandura passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on December 21, 2021.

Betty was born in Boonton and lived every day with a smile on her face and a zest for life that was contagious. She was a prankster with a boundless amount of energy and keen sense of right and wrong. Growing up in a family of talented musicians, Betty played piano and possessed a singing voice that allowed her to perform in musical shows, weddings and the church choir.

She spent her working years employed at Bell Laboratories in Whippany N.J. It was there that she would meet her future husband, Stanley Bandura and raise a son and daughter.

Betty was a talented decorator and floral arranger. Her home in Parsippany was a delight to all who passed by as she would create her own décor for every holiday with flair and taste.

Without a doubt, Betty’s most prideful accomplishment was the Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church Thrift Shop in Boonton, which she co-founded and managed since 1975. She was awarded the Vivere Christus by the Bishop of the Diocese of Paterson for her selfless and faithful service to others as a disciple of Jesus Christ.

Betty was predeceased by her husband, Stanley; her father, Joseph Sikora and her mother, Catherine (Ackerman) Sikora of Boonton; and her sisters, Florence Sikora and Anne Dabrowski.

Betty is survived by her son, Stanley Bandura and his wife, Donna of Myrtle Beach, SC; and her daughter, Dorrian Bandura of Parsippany, NJ; as well as her beloved grandchildren, Tyler of Myrtle Beach; and Stephen of Seattle, WA.

A Mass celebrating her life will be held at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Boonton on Wednesday December 29th at 10:30 AM. It will be followed by interment at Restland Memorial Park in East Hanover, NJ.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Betty’s memory can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Thrift Shop, 910 Birch St. Boonton, NJ 07005.
