Obituary of Charles E. Lally

Charles E. Lally, “Chuck", aged 75, of Mountain Lakes, NJ, died unexpectedly in his Florida residence on Saturday, November 13, 2021.

Born December 1945 in Newark, NJ, Chuck grew up in Middlesex, NJ with his mom, Rose; dad, Eugene; and brother Jim.  He graduated from Middlesex High School where he met Suzanne, his wife of 53 years. High school sweethearts, Chuck and Suzanne married shortly after his graduation from LaSalle University in Philadelphia PA where he earned a degree in accounting.

Chuck began his career at Price Waterhouse, now PwC, and moved to Somerville, NJ where his first daughter Jennifer was born. After a short detour to Savannah, GA where his second daughter Kimberly was born, Chuck finally settled in Mountain Lakes, NJ where he went on to build lifelong friendships in a wonderful community. A certified public accountant for the majority of his career, he retired as the president of a small insurance company and embraced the warmer climate of Longboat Key, FL.

Chuck was a devoted husband and dad who especially loved his grandchildren, playing golf and tennis, card games, a strong gimlet, the NJ shore, and his ocean view of the Gulf of Mexico where he waved to the dolphins every morning. He had an amazing sense of humor, generosity, amiable charm, and legendary belly laughs... and there were always lots of laughs.

Chuck is survived by his wife, Suzanne (Ritchie) Lally; daughter, Jennifer Powers and her husband Jason; granddaughters, Abby and Emma; daughter, Kimberly Seck and her husband Michael Seck, Esq.; grandsons, Michael Seck, Jr and Matthew Seck; as well as his brother, James Lally.

Family and friends are invited to gather for a Memorial Mass at St. Catherine of Siena Church, Mountain Lakes, NJ on Saturday, November 20, 2021 at 10:00 am.  A private interment will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Tunnels to Towers Foundation at t2t.org.
