Obituary of Ellin F. Sonn
Ellin Freeswick Sonn, 82, of Tequesta, FL., formerly of North Caldwell, N.J. passed on Friday, February 26, 2021.
Ellin was born in Passaic N.J. and raised in Packanack Lake, Wayne, N.J. where she graduated high school. Mrs. Sonn also lived for many years in North Caldwell, N.J. She attended the University of Tennessee and the Berkeley Secretarial School in East Orange, N.J. Ellin went on to work as a medical office manager for a group of doctors in Wayne, before taking a similar position at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Paterson, N.J.
Ellin retired in 1998 and married Harold Sonn of North Caldwell, N.J., the father-in-law of her daughter Lisa. Ellin and Harold enjoyed traveling and took many cruises and other trips visiting over 70 different countries. She also enjoyed their weekends at their farm in Hope, N.J and winters in Tequesta, FL.
Ellin was a woman of simple pleasures. She loved drinking lattes, sitting outside, and spending time with her family. She faced the last year amid a pandemic and isolation with patience, grace and optimism. She loved and was loved.
Mrs. Sonn is predeceased by her parents, John J. and Eleanor K. Freeswick, and her husband Harold W. Sonn. She is survived by her son Peter Stellhorn and his wife, Kathy of Hasbrouck Heights, N.J. and her daughter Lisa Sonn and her husband, Douglas, of Montville, N.J.
Grandchildren include Courtney, Cameron, and Harrison Sonn and Meghan Stellhorn.
At Ellin’s request, services are private in care of the Codey & Mackey Funeral Home of Boonton.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Morristown Medical Center, Gagnon Cardiovascular Center in Ellin’s memory would be greatly appreciated by her family.
