Ruth (Baker) Plahn of Boonton died on Sunday, April 25, 2010. She was 89. Born in Morristown she was raised in Kenvil before moving to Boonton 58 years ago. She was a graduate of Roxbury High School, class of 1938 and a graduate of East Stroudsburg College, class of 1942. After graduation Ruth was the only female to receive a Civil Aeronautics Association Private Pilot Certification in 1943. She also worked for Hercules Powder Company as a ballistic technician. In November 1942, she married Richard W. Plahn and they celebrated 66 years married in November 2009. Ruth was an active member of the Boonton community, a girl scout leader for 8 years, worked for the Boonton Board of Education for 27 years before retiring in 1970. She was also a long time member of the Boonton United Methodist Church and its Women's Society. Besides her loving husband, Ruth is survived by her two daughters; Barbara Infranca and her husband Danny of Costa Mesa, CA and Nancy Sadlon of Bound Brook, 3 grandchildren, Roger Infranca, Gordon Infranca and Michael Sadlon; also survived by her sister Carolyn Cocking of Lake Shawnee and other beloved family members. Friends may visit on Wednesday, April 28, 2010 from 2 - 4 PM Only at Mackey Funeral Home 107 Essex Ave., Boonton. The interment will be private at the Succasunna Presbyterian Cemetery. The family cordially invites you to a Memorial Service on Sunday, May 23, 2010 at 2:00 PM at the Boonton United Methodist Church.
