Mr. Ludwig filled the lives of my brothers and sisters with happiness long to be remembered. He often took us to Friendly’s and I will never forget the hard work and effort that he put into making our swimming hole a place of spa-like elegance. When I look back I realize he did that all out of his own generosity and kind heart. Heaven has a special place to those that give unconditionally as Mr. Ludwig did to my family and the families of Chestnut Street and our block. I too remember candy apples at Halloween and summer nights in their back yard. I know our Lord holds him in the palm of his hand. God speed Mr. Ludwig! God speed and prayers for all he leaves behind. Goodbye my dear friend,
This world will be a lesser place without your smile, kindness and goodness.
I remember first meeting you in St. Kitts....you and Harriet walking around, both of you with your bad hips....but always smiles on your face.
I remember bringing you recipe books and magazines and you LOVING those..and so appreciative that you baked me a challah! That was amazing.....what a wonderful surprise!
I remember Rudys love for you...and yours for the dogs..always!
I remember you keeping your promise to Harriet...and doing it with such kindness and grace.
Her favorite thing was to have the two of you hold hands.
I remember how much you loved Scott and Yasmin.....and how very proud you were of Max..I do not want to say we're because I believe that love goes on...tho your earthly presence does not.As my love will go on for you my friend.

To think of Fred that brought me and you such joy and laughter and great humor is no longer with us ,but we will never forget what he has brought into our lives, unforgettable.
We will dearly miss him.
Myself and my wife Esther will be praying for peace for the family throughout this time of grief and sadness.
1st Corinthians 15:22 for as in Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall be made alive.

We walked into Santa Land with two of our granddaughters and when we finally got up to Fred he said "Hi Wayne" and our Grand Girls were so shocked that Santa knew Pop's name that they said this must be the real Santa .
My sincere sympathy to Scott,Yasmin and Max.
Rest in peace Fred.

As a Lake Avenue resident I met Fred when I was 5 years old. He was always kind with a wonderful smile. I'll always remember the many birthday and specialty cakes. Every Halloween he made candy apples, we really looked forward to receiving them through his Dutch door. As a young adult I had the privilege of working as his understudy. I learned a lot about baking and plenty about joke telling, He always liked to make people laugh. He was an amazing co-worker, friend and second Father to me. I'm lucky to have had him in my life. Until we meet again i'll miss you buddy.

RIP sweet Santa Freddy! The first attached photo was taken of Freddy and my son back in July 2006. It was a chance encounter at Stewart's in Denville and true to form - Freddy whipped a matchbox car out of his pocket for my son. My son just BEAMED! WOW - he saw Santa in July!! This photo resided in our Christmas decorations and would come out on display year after year. During an Eagle Scout work session this past December 2019 involving the Boonton Fire Department (thank you Jack & Jim), the pieces were put together! It was Freddy Ludwig all those years ago that made our Christmases so much brighter! I was lucky enough to meet and subsequently visit Freddy in the nursing home a few times before he passed (picture 2 & 3). Freddy will ALWAYS be a part of my family now. I feel so blessed that I got the chance to meet him. What an amazingly delightful man! My sincerest condolences to his son & family. I will miss you Freddy Ludwig.....thanks for allowing me to share my memory of him. Rest peacefully Santa....
