Obituary of Carl Allieri

Please share a memory of Carl to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Longtime Resident of Boonton Township Carl Allieri of Boonton Township, NJ, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 19, 2016 with his loving family by his side. He was 78. Born in Newark, NJ to Mario and Adelaide Allieri (nee Sola), Carl lived in Lake Parsippany and graduated from Boonton H.S. in 1956. Carl, son of immigrants from Milan, Italy, was as proud of his Italian-American heritage as he was for being from Newark. So many happy memories came from Down Neck. His greatest joy was his long happy life with his high school sweetheart, Onnolee (nee Osterhoudt). They married in 1961 and honeymooned in Bermuda, a place they loved to return to throughout their life. Carl was as active in his industry as his community. Carl received his B.S. in Chemistry and MBA from Fairleigh Dickinson University and went on to become president of Compac Corporation, a division of Masco, and president of the Pressure Sensitive Tape Council, the leading association for his industry. Carl has been a pillar of the local community over the past 40+ years. He often said that the Boonton and Boonton Township area was the "best place on earth," thanks to the wonderful people who call it home. He was chairman of the Boonton Twp. Planning Board, president of the Boonton Twp. Board of Education, chairman of the Oscar Kincaid Home of History Preservation Committee, chairman of Congressman Rodney Frelinghuysen's Academy Review Board, president of Grayhawks Football and board member of the Morris County Historic Preservation Trust. Carl could often be found antiquing with Onnolee throughout the area, smoking a cigar with one of his friends in the garden, or surf fishing on the south end of Long Beach Island, where the family has had a house for decades. Surviving are his beloved wife, Onnolee; devoted children, David and his partner, Mark Eggleston of Brooklyn, NY, Paul and his wife Maureen (nee Reynolds) of Boonton Twp., Susan of Boonton Twp., Allison Hayden and her husband Michael of Wayne, PA and Christopher of Brooklyn, NY; also 7 cherished grandchildren, Donovan, Stephanie, Carly, Emily, Anna, Abigail and Michael. He was predeceased by his parents and his sister, Virginia McVeigh. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the family on Sunday, July 24th from 2-6 pm at the Codey & Mackey Funeral Home, 107 Essex Avenue, Boonton, NJ 07005. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Monday, July 25, 2016 at 10:00 am in Our Lady of Mount Carmel R.C. Church 910 Birch Street, Boonton. The interment will follow at Rockaway Valley Cemetery on Valley Road in Boonton Township. To share a memory or extend condolences, please visit www.codeymackeyfh.com.
