Obituary of Peter Laue

Peter Laue of Denville, NJ, passed away on Monday, January 11, 2016. He was 90 years old.
Peter was born in Brooklyn, NY. He lived in Denville and Boonton, for most of his life.
Mr. Laue proudly served his country in WWII as a member of the Merchant Marines, after graduating the Merchant Marine Academy, Kings Point. He worked as chief engineer for Moran Towing for 20 years. After retirement he traveled the world as chief engineer for Green Peace and was an advocate for the environment with his various work for Nature Land Conservancy and local trail conservation.
Peter was an active member of the VFW Post 2519 in Denville and the American Merchant Marine Veterans, Dennis Roland Chapter in Midland Park, NJ.
He loved his time spent on the water, in nature and most especially, time spent with his family.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Betty Anne (Frank) and his son, Peter.
Surviving are his daughters, Magen Schmidt, Melissa Helmick and Amanda Cali; 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Denville Community (Methodist) Church, 190 Diamond Spring Road, Denville, NJ on Saturday is CANCELED DUE TO STATE OF EMERGENCY - TO BE RESCHEDULED
In lieu of flowers, donations are being accepted to the Trustees of U of PA/Cali FOP Fund, 3535 Market Street, Suite 750, Philadelphia, PA 19104-9709 in honor of his grandson.
