To Fern and John's family-
John, it was pleasure, no an honor, to have both known and worked for you. Honesty, earnestness and a real desire to make good decisions are what you taught me me. Thank you.

Dear Fern
I just received today the very sad news of John's passing.
."Petit Jean" as he named himself was a very good friend and a great colleague at L'Oréal
Anne Marie and me have in mind the souvenir of his visits in Paris, sometimes also with you and the children. They were fantastic moments. We were also very happy to meet him again in early 2014 in Paris with your daughter.
Our prayers are with you all.
Christian

I cannot possible say how saddened I was to hear of Dr. P's passing. He was a wonderful boss and I am proud to say I was his first hire here at L'OREAL. He took our US R&D so much further than we could have guessed, and his support and direction were constants that made us proud to be his "dream team". His unfailing good humor made the bad times seem lighter. And he was such a genuinely good person. We all know of the family he loved so much, and I was glad to learn of the joy he found with a new little granddaughter! My prayers are with you all. Deepest condolences - but happy memories.

Gene and I were shocked to hear of the untimely passing of John. Gene loves the rules of golf as much as John did and they would talk about them regularly. When I last saw him in mid May before I left, I said, "What's the matter John?" and he said, "I don't know." Next thing I read that he had a hole in one......I don't think it was that long ago......I thought that was wonderful! I will miss our talks John. H.R. will not be the same! Rest in peace!

Fern,
Susan and I express our condolences to your and your extended families. John was a good man.
The first time I played golf with John I became so frustrated that I almost quit the round. He kept pointing out rule infractions that I was doing and correcting my score. "You should -- and can -- take an 8 on that hole you know." Nevertheless, I finished the round and we subsequently become friends, even though he continued to correct me.
With our deepest sympathy.

My wife and I have been street neighbors of John and Fern at Harbour Ridge for four years. John was one of the first people to welcome my wife and I to the community. He was always friendly and we enjoyed playing golf together. John had many accomplishments in his life time and one of them was a good golf game. He was always ready to help with some friendly observations for improvement of my swing and I appreciated that. I am saddened by John's passing and I will truly miss him.

Fern -
Recall Maureen and I were with you and John at the recent ELKS Golf Supper.
I often shared a cart with John during our frequent "Nine & Dine" outings!
We had many chats about golf, railroading (his joy), marketing and much more.
He subtlely gave me and some of the others needed tips on our golf swings.
Always well received and helpful!
He will be sorely missed by us and all his many good friends here in Harbour Ridge.
We send our best to you . . and all his family!

We are so sorry to hear about John. We have so many good memories of being together. Always enjoyed spending time with John either golfing or just on the range where he was a master who truly understood the game. John was responsible for my involvement in the USGA as an official.
