Homer F. Ellis, 89, of Randolph, NJ, passed away on Sunday, July 19, 2015.
Born in Montrose, PA, Homer grew up in Elk Lake, Pa, and was one of 8 children born to Arthur and Nellie Ellis. As a child he worked alongside his dad, a farmer, and learned much about farming and cars. At a young age, he made it his business to learn all types of trades. He learned to work on cars which led him to his career in automotive repair. He worked for Duggan Bakeries in Madison for many years followed by employment for 27 years at Corigliano Motors in Boonton, retiring in 1988. After retiring, he worked part time for Cain & Sons Fire Equipment in Pine Brook.
He was a 45 year resident of Boonton prior to moving to Randolph in 2006.
Homer was predeceased by his wife of 68 years, Evelyn May (VanDuyne) and his sister, Belva Beatty. Surviving are his daughters, Donna Kurley of Randolph, Carol Sandrue of Bartonsville , Pa and Barbara Tasker of Mount Arlington; and a cherished grandson, Brian Kurley of Rockaway.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the family at the Codey & Mackey Funeral Home, 107 Essex Avenue, Boonton, NJ 07005 on Wednesday, July 22, 2015 from 4 – 8 pm. A Funeral Service will be held in the funeral home on Thursday, July 23 at 10:00 am. The entombment will follow at Restland Memorial Park, East Hanover, NJ.
