Obituary of Patricia E. Soffel

Patricia E. Soffel (nee O'Leary), of Boonton Township, NJ, passed away on Friday August 1st at Merry Heart of Boonton Twp. She was 92 years old. She was the daughter of Patrick and Johanna O'Leary born in Orange, NJ. Her father died in 1927 and her mother remarried moving the family to Boonton in 1934. Patricia graduated from Boonton H.S. in 1942 and was a homemaker, raising her two children. In 1979 she went to work as a Nurse's Aide at Tally Ho/Sarah Frances, now Merry Heart, in Boonton Twp. She worked there for 21 years, retiring in 2000. Mrs. Soffel was an active Boontonite, volunteering with the Boonton Kiwanis Ambulance (life member), the Boonton Twp. Volunteer Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary and the Boonton Area Blood Bank. She also worked for many years as a poll worker for Morris County Board of Elections. She was predeceased by her husband, Sidney. Surviving are her devoted children, Patricia J. Soffel and Peter L. Soffel; a cherished grandson, Christopher John, and a loving sister, Margaret Pascarella. A Memorial Mass will be offered at Sts. Cyril & Methodius R.C. Church, 215 Hill Street, Boonton on Tuesday August 5th at 11 AM. The inurnment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, Boonton. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Kiwanis Ambulance of Boonton, P.O. Box 16, Boonton, NJ 07005, would be appreciated.
