Obituary of Karl Hazel

Karl E. Hazel, age 81, longtime resident of Mountain Lakes, NJ and loving husband of the late Marcia Hazel for forty-three years, passed away the morning of April 12, 2013 after a lengthy illness. Mr. Hazel graduated from the esteemed Lawrenceville School in 1950 and entered the University of Pennsylvania that same year. The Korean War interrupted Mr. Hazel's college days and he served the United States as a member of the National Security Administration until the conclusion of the war. Upon his return to Penn, he entered the Wharton School, graduating in 1957 with a Bachelor of Science in Economics. During his long and varied career, Mr. Hazel developed sophisticated financial control systems for a broad array of industrial and financial services companies. He is remembered by his family as a kind, generous and brilliant man with a compassionate heart. Mr. Hazel is survived by his nieces Wren McNiel and Kim Rouse and his three grand nieces: Jessie McNiel, Cameron Rouse and Taylor Rouse and his grand nephew Nicholas McNiel. A private ceremony took place at Greenwood Cemetery in Boonton, NJ. Arrangements are in care of the Codey & Mackey Funeral Home, Boonton, NJ.
