DENVILLE---Elizabeth H. (Nelson) Tonseth died Saturday, September 1, 2012 at Franciscan Oaks Health Center, Denville, following a brief illness. She was 90. Born in New York, NY, she lived in the Smoke Rise section of Kinnelon for 21 years, then Bergen, Norway for 32 years before moving to Denville 8 years ago. Mrs. Tonseth was a homemaker, an excellent cook, an avid gardener and knitter and loved music and dancing. She was a member of, and performed with, The Smoke Rise Players while living there. Her first husband, Stephen Barnish, died in 1944 as a result of his service during World War II. Her second husband, Eugene P. Murphy, died in 1971. Her third husband, Einar Tonseth died in 2003. Elizabeth is survived by two sons, Eugene P. Murphy and his wife Anno of Naples, FL and James M. Murphy of Hackensack; four daughters, Diane Henderson of Mechanicsburg, PA, Barbara Zorlas and her husband James of Mountain Lakes, Alice Hausmann and her husband Peter of Newtown Square, PA and Catherine Schiele and her husband Thomas of Jaffrey, NH. Also surviving are fourteen loving grandchildren and eight cherished great grandchildren. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Thursday, September 6th at 11:00 A.M. at the Chapel of Our Lady of the Magnificat Parish, Miller Road, Kinnelon with interment to follow at the parish cemetery. There will be no hours of visitation. Memorial contributions in Elizabeth's name may be made to the New Jersey Foundation for the Blind, 230 Diamond Spring Rd., Denville, NJ 07834.
