BOONTON---Marilyn Sara (Heydt) Bechtel of Boonton, NJ died peacefully on Saturday, July 21, 2012 at Merry Heart Care Center in Boonton Township, NJ following a long illness. She was 75. Born and raised in Allentown, PA, she was the only child of the late Arthur W. Heydt and Marguerite A. (Ginkinger) Heydt. She graduated from Allentown High School in 1954 and the Allentown Hospital School of Nursing in 1957. As a registered nurse, a profession for which she was ideally suited, Marilyn served for 20 years in the Boonton office of Louis Hammerman, M.D. She was a 45-year member of the Boonton United Methodist Church and was actively involved in many community organizations. Marilyn is survived by her husband of 54 years, Warren R. Bechtel, and their three children: Michael W. Bechtel and his wife, Pamela, of Davie, FL, Joel A. Bechtel, of Lower Swatara Township, PA, and Lisa M. Bechtel, of Hope, NJ. She is also survived by their four grandchildren: Marissa, Taylor, Thomas and Cassandra Bechtel. Memorial visitation will be held at the Mackey Funeral Home ( www.mackeyfh.com), 107 Essex Ave., Boonton, on Wednesday, July 25th from 2-4 PM & 7-9 PM. A memorial service will be held at the Boonton United Methodist Church on Thursday, July 26th at 10:30 AM, followed by inurnment in the church columbarium. Contributions in memory of Marilyn can be made to the Memorial Fund of the Boonton United Methodist Church, 626 Lathrop Ave., Boonton, NJ 07005.
