The Emery's lived right across the street from me growing up on Taylortown Road and we all became loyal friends. Whenever I would come over to play with the boys and Mrs. Emery was there she would say "Bean" come on in - Dave is downstairs and I would go thru the hall past several bedrooms, a bathroom, by Mr. and Mrs. Emery's room, thru the kitchen and down the basement stairs. Mrs. Emery, even though she had a lot of children always made me feel like one of her own - very inclusive and always cheerful to me. I kind of acted like Eddie Haskell around her but she I think appreciated my manners and low key way. Mrs. Emery trusted me which as a young person was good for one' self-esteem. She also was an amazing volunteer for the community which I never really knew how she could have the energy and devote the time for it but she had an inner strength as well as a great physical strength. Best of all for me was she loved Halloween which was my favorite day of the year excluding Christmas. If you can imagine creating costumes for six, seven, or eight, children on any given Halloween and usually having some of them win costume prizes - Mrs. Emery did it every year. Whenever I think of Mrs. Emery I smile because whenever she saw me she smiled at me and made me feel like I belonged in her house. My deepest feelings are extended to the Emery family and I will always feel very lucky I grew up across the street from Mrs. Emery and her family.

Helen is one of the strongest women I have ever known. She was dedicated to all animals. She provided a safe haven filled with love & piece for them. She is in a better place now with Christine, Kevin & young Christine. She is in no pain & is surrounded by at least 100 cats & dogs that she has saved thru the years. I am blessed to have known her. She is the best mother in law anyone could have. I will miss her.
