BOONTON TOWNSHIP---Anne T. (Altieri) Burke died Thursday, April 26, 2012 at Morristown Medical Center following a short illness complicated by long-term health issues. She was 84, and the last in her generation of a close-knit family of five sisters and a brother. The loving bond they all shared has been passed down to the next two generations of cousins. Born in Irvington, she raised her family of three cherished daughters in Union, Short Hills and Summit; then lived in Springfield and Madison before moving to Boonton Township 5 years ago. Mrs. Burke was the office manager for Garden Homes, Springfield for 20 years before retiring in 2006. She received her bachelor's degree in English from Seton Hall University. She was a Grand Regent of the Catholic Daughters of America, Short Hills Chapter and was active with the New Jersey Speakers Bureau. Recently, and most proudly, she served as president of the Residents' Council at Merry Heart at Boonton Township. In 2011 she published her autobiography entitled My Life, My Story and was working on a second book at the time of her death. Her husband, Adrian J. Burke, died in 1995. She was also predeceased by a daughter, Colleen, in 2007. She is survived by two daughters, Dr. Sharon Burke McDermott and her husband John of Mountainside and Adrienne Burke Charlton, Esq. and her husband William of Boonton Township; two cherished granddaughters, Bridget and Jackie Charlton and a host of loving nieces and nephews. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 2nd at 10:00 A.M. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 910 Birch St., Boonton with interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover. Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the Mackey Funeral Home ( www.mackeyfh.com), 107 Essex Ave., Boonton. Memorial contributions in Anne's name may be made to Children's Specialized Hospital, 200 Somerset St., New Brunswick, NJ 08901. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
