BOONTON---Jim Morgenland died Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at Hackensack University Medical Center following a courageous battle with several ongoing medical issues. He was 50. Born in Passaic, he lived in Clifton and Florham Park before moving to Boonton 20 years ago. He graduated from Clifton High School in 1979 and attended night classes at Centenary College, Parsippany campus. Mr. Morgenland was an Associate Director of Communications and Media for Novartis in East Hanover, having joined the firm in 1984. During his time at Novartis, he was passionate about helping them achieve a culture that focused on inclusion. As an inspiration to many, he helped widen the corporate culture to "social media" and was the driving force behind Take Your Child to Work Day and Novartis Day. As a community-minded citizen, he served as a Boy Scout Leader with Troop #1, was active with the Boonton Main Street Organization, served on various committees with the Boonton School System and coached with the Boonton Boys Junior Lacrosse Team. Despite the demands of work, Jim always found time to volunteer for activities that were important to his children. His love of baseball, music and roller coasters demonstrated his passion for experiencing all that life has to offer. He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Nadine (nee Lorenzo); his two beloved son, James and Jack; his mother, Johanna (nee Milius) of Clifton; his father, Gerrit of East Hanover and two sisters, Jane George and Joyce Zeronski, both of East Hanover. Also surviving are many loving nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Friday, February 3rd from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the Mackey Funeral Home ( www.mackeyfh.com), 107 Essex Ave., Boonton. A funeral service will be held at the conclusion of visitation, beginning at 8:30 PM on Friday. Memorial contributions in Jim's name may be made to a fund to be created for his sons' education, c/o Nadine Morgenland, 325 Rexland Dr., Boonton, NJ 07005. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
