Korean War Veteran Carl F. Weltner, Jr., 83, of Cedar Crest Village, NJ, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, June 7, 2016. Born on July 26, 1932 in Weehawken, NJ to Carl F. Weltner, Sr. and Hilda Schmitt. Carl served in the US Army during the Korean War. He married Katherine Bernhard on May 5, 1957. Carl retired from Lucent Technologies in 1989 and Technical Telephone Service in 1995. Carl lived in NJ his entire life, he lived in Palisades Park and Boonton Twp. before moving to Cedar Crest Village in 2007. He was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church in Boonton, NJ, a longtime Boy Scout leader, member of the CWA, Local 9 and the Berlin United States Military Association. Surviving are his beloved wife, Katherine; devoted children, Glenn (Trina), Scott (Janet), Linda Savercool (James), Eric, Gail Hyer (John) and Karen Soricelli; loving grandchildren, Jennifer, Kyle, Emily, Ashley, Sean, Brian, Samantha, Brooke, Lindsey and Nicole. He was predeceased by his parents and his brother, Donald. A Funeral Service will be held at the Codey & Mackey Funeral Home, 107 Essex Avenue, Boonton, NJ on Thursday, June 16, 2016 at 9:30am. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the family on Wednesday, June 15, 2016 from 2-4 & 7-9pm at the funeral home. Interment is private.
