Obituary of Bessie L. Sims - Wilmore

Bessie Leoa Sims Wilmore, formerly of Boonton, NJ, passed away on Monday, November 15, 2021 surrounded by her family at home in Irvington. She was 86 years young.

Bessie was born in April 1935 in Chester, SC to Jim and Marie (Ferguson) Sims. She relocated to Boonton as a child and attended Boonton schools. Bessie was an indispensable part of the Mackey Funeral Home team, lending her attention to detail to their families' hair and makeup. She also used her detail skills as a quality control supervisor for many years at Boonton Molding and then retiring from Shaw Plastic in Middlesex in 1984.

In 1968 Bessie married John "Jip" Wilmore and they spent the next 53 years together, eventually settling in Irvington.

Bessie was predeceased by her parents; her brothers, Willie James Sims of SC, Eddie Sims of PA and Jay Robert Sims of Boonton. She is survived by her beloved husband, John L. (Jip) Wilmore of Irvington; her cherished son, Robert Lamont (Bubba) Sims of Irvington; her loving brother, Eli Sims of Morristown; her stepdaughter, Leslie Arnold; her step grandchildren, Samir Arnold, Khadijah Arnold; great granddaughter, Samiyra Arnold, all of Morristown; her stepdaughter Bonita McFadden and her daughter Chelsea, of Florence, SC and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Please join the family on Tuesday, November 30th at 11:00am for her Celebration of Life at Codey & Mackey Funeral Home, 107 Essex Avenue, Boonton, NJ. Interment will be private. The family requests that visitors abide by the current NJ Covid-19 protocols.
