Richard George Duess, 89, formerly of West Orange, NJ, peacefully passed away on Thursday, January 10, 2019 at his son's home in Towaco, NJ.
A memorial visiting will be held in the Codey & Mackey Funeral Home, 107 Essex Avenue, Boonton, NJ 07005 on Monday, January 14th from 4-7:30 pm. Followed by a memorial service at 7:30 pm in the funeral home. To share a condolence or memory, please visit codeymackeyfh.com.
Born in Garfield, NJ to Charles and Tena (Faber) Duess, Richard lived in West Orange, Towaco and Florida before living with his son this past year.
Richard proudly served in the US Navy on the USS Cabot during the Korean War.
Mr. Duess retired as the President of West Orange Savings & Loan. He enjoyed many years of service in the community as an active member of the West Orange Lions Club.
He was an avid golfer and member of Rock Spring Country Club.
Richie was predeceased by his beloved wife, Marie (nee Kulik) in April of 2018; a brother, Charles and sister, Eugenia Loechert.
He is survived by his son, Richard and his wife, Yuliya, and daughter, Jane Burke and her husband, Darren; a sister, Doris Nielsen; and grandchildren, Nicholas, Zachary, Lucas and Maria; and great grandchildren, Hayden & Jacob.
