Obituary of Reverend Kent Dennis Estler

The Reverend Kent D. Estler, 76, of Boonton Township, NJ, passed away on Wednesday, January 2, 2019 with his loving family at his side.

Born in Orange, NJ to LeRoy and Wilda (Muhl) Estler, Kent lived in Boonton and Boonton Township his entire life.

Kent was born to be a Minister. He grew up in the Rockaway Valley Methodist Church with his mother. After graduating Boonton H.S. he attended Albright College, where he met the love of his life, Ruth Anne Wagner. After their wedding he graduated from Drew University Divinity School.

His varied career spanned from Ministry to Computer Programing to Teaching. He began his journey in 1969 as the Associate Minister at The Community Congregational Church in Short Hills. He worked also at Newsweek as a manager in the Fulfillment Department. He also taught at Chubb Institute for several years. During his tenure, he remained active in the church.

Rev. Estler was the Founding Minister of the Pilgrim Congregational Church of Warren, NJ since1992.

In his spare time, Kent enjoyed photography, learning to fly a sailplane, computer technology and traveling with his family – especially to Washington D.C.

Surviving are his beloved wife, Ruth Anne; devoted children, Cora Han of Ewing, NJ and Brian Estler of Boynton Beach, FL; loving sister, Nan Ferrari of Zebedo, Italy and brother, Dr. Ron Estler of Durango, CO; cherished grandchildren, Samantha Jones, Caleb, Angelina and Hayden Estler.

Please join the family as they celebrate Kent's life on Sunday, January 6, 2019 at 2:00 pm at his church, Pilgrim Congregational Church, 105 Mountainview Road, Warren, NJ 07059.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Pilgrim Congregational Church would be appreciated.
