Obituary of Denis Gerard O'Sullivan

The family of Denis O'Sullivan sadly announces his passing on Sunday, December 16, 2018. 

Denis was a young 85 year old who enjoyed a life full of family, friends and music. He lived in

Mountain Lakes, New Jersey and San Martin, California.

He was born in New York City to Herbert and Helen (Harris) O'Sullivan, the eldest of four children

raised in City Island, New York.  From his childhood Denis was involved in the printing business when he

learned to operate his father's Hand Press in the basement.  He retired as owner and President of 

O'Sullivan Menu Publishing in West Caldwell, New Jersey and Southall, England.

Denis was a natural musician who could play many instruments, but the saxophone in his youth and 

the piano for the rest of his life gave him and his family years of ongoing pleasure.

Denis was in the United States Army from 1953-1955, serving in Berlin, Germany for over a year.

Surviving are his beloved wife Elizabeth Costa O'Sullivan, devoted children: Roberta Rasmussen Vinkhuyzen,

and spouse Erik Vinkhuyzen,  Eric Rasmussen and spouse Azadeh Rasmussen,  Kerin O'Sullivan Berghaier,  

Cathlyn O'Sullivan Markel and spouse Howard Markel,  Christopher Rasmussen, and Patricia O'Sullivan.  

Loving grandchildren: Saskia Vinkhuyzen, Pascale Vinkhuyzen, Lukas Vinkhuyzen, Emma Markel, 

Nikolas Jacobson, Xan Jacobson, Zak Rasmussen, Duncan Rasmussen, and Lily Rasmussen.

Sisters-in-law:  Geannine O'Sullivan and Allison O'Sullivan and many nieces and nephews will feel his loss.

In addition to his parents Denis was predeceased by his brothers, Owen O'Sullivan and Kevin O'Sullivan;

and his sister Mary Kilborn.

Denis was Chairman of the Board of the Visiting Nurse Association of Northern New Jersey, and it remains his

favorite charity.
