Jim was my calming presence - (no easy task) - every ordinary day, week to week. He was so patient, fun, and adviseful.
And at the beach, I entrusted my life to Debbie to take me knee-high, but only Jim to lead me into the crashing waves of the deep.
An enigma -- Jim at once ever daring me and tenderly caring for me
… as he did all others,
Maybe a meme, but all our prayers flow continuously to you all,
Steinbeck and Hemmingway may be separated temporarily, but never in spirit.
God Bless,
Frances

Jim and I left the Knoll Tennis Club last Saturday having had one of our better performances. While in his younger days Jim was an excellent player, recently the ability to get around the court had proved challenging. Still when Jim had a good swat at the ball it would send me chasing it, off balance and only a lucky return would surprise him.
Jim definitely elevated my game over the past 10 years that we had played weekly. But much more so he helped me elevate my life. We shared our weekly chats before tennis with Carl and occasionally with Debbie or the kids (Harley and Jake) - always a treat to have them or Ashley and Buddy, Brian or Ricky and on special trips Thelma. When it was just the two of us to me it was special time sharing our innermost thoughts. When we were with others he had a twinkle in his eye enjoying being surrounded by those who truly loved him.
I enjoyed our trips to the shore and his early morning visits to share a cup of coffee followed by 3 eggs sunny side up and perfect bacon. He gave me the business how I labored over bacon in the morning constantly turning the strips to ensure they were evenly cooked - chewy and straight.
We loved sharing food recipes and he would always prep for the Shore even when he wasn't joining the rest of us. Lauren adored his ribs and Lisa his shrimp with pasta even though she was allergic to shrimp! We watched his kids grow up while we grew old.
Carl and I will continue to paint when we return to Wildwood and I hope that I can add to the "art" gallery in their mud room. Jim made me feel special by hanging my works for all who dared enter.
I will truly miss you my dear friend. I love you immensely and look forward to playing tennis again on the perfect court where all our shots will be great.
Love Jack

I’m very sorry about the loss of Jim. He was very dear to my heart and a kind and caring man! We now know he’s watching over us in heaven taking care of all of us and watching me while I take Maggie out on long walks. No one had the amazing attitude Jim did and I have learned that over half of my life and I’m so thankful to have met him but so upset to see him go. However I do now know he’s in a better place now and watching over all of us every second of the day. Please accept my deepest condolences. Love Moochie
