Krystyna Kalwa, 90, of Denville, NJ, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at Merry Heart in Boonton Twp., NJ. Born in Jatwiesk, Poland to Fransciszek and Zofia (Salamonczyk) Borkowski. A WWII Siberian concentration camp survivor, Krystyna became a refugee under British Protection in Africa. She attended schooling in Nairobi, Kenya receiving a degree as Master Craftsman of Tailoring. She became a British subject in 1947 and settled in Nottingham, England. In 1962, Krystyna immigrated to the United States residing at Rainbow Lakes, NJ for 55 years. She was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker. Surviving are her beloved husband, Jozef; devoted children, Richard, Elizabeth Geraghty and Andrew; loving sisters, Wiktoria Glinska of Jersey City, NJ and Irena Popowicz of Loughborough, England; also 10 grandchildren. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the family at the Codey & Mackey Funeral Home, 107 Essex Avenue, Boonton, NJ 07005 on Tuesday, May 23 from 6-9pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at Sts. Cyril & Methodius Church, 215 Hill Street, Boonton on Wednesday, May 24 at 10:00am.
