Obituary of Cheryl M. Wendt
Please share a memory of Cheryl to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Cheryl M. Wendt, beloved mother, daughter, sister, and friend, of Denville, NJ, passed away suddenly on Thursday, October 27, 2016, due to complications during her long-fought battle with breast cancer. She was 41 years old.
Cheryl was born in Teaneck, NJ, to Paul and Carolyn Barbara. She grew up in Bogota, NJ with her four siblings, enjoying summers at their grandparents' home in Lavallette, NJ. Working at a marketing agency on Main Street in Boonton, NJ, she met Peter C. Wendt V, whom she married in 2002. They made their home in Boonton before moving to Boulder, CO. Two cherished children, Peter and Riley, were born after the Wendts moved back east to Raleigh, NC. When they relocated to Collegeville, PA, in 2010, Cheryl was diagnosed with cancer and began her brave fight against the disease. After her husband Pete's death in March of 2011, Cheryl moved her family back home to New Jersey to reside in Denville, a town she loved and where she enjoyed the companionship of friends, old and new, who never ceased to be inspired by her generosity, grace, and unwavering courage.
For the last few years, Cheryl worked as a property manager/office administrator with Woodmont Properties of Fairfield, NJ. There, she was blessed with the tremendous support and encouragement of her close family of colleagues. She loved the outdoors, camping, hiking, and kayaking. She was a devoted, playful, and energetic mother to the loves of her life, Peter and Riley. She is also survived by her devoted mother Carolyn Barbara; loving father Paul Barbara and his fiancée Joan Kolan; dedicated and affectionate siblings Anthony, Steven and Hitomi, Mark, and Mary Barbara; dear in-laws, Peter and Barbara Wendt; sister- and brother-in-law Heather and Jeffrey Kemp; and adoring niece and four nephews. She will be missed by countless close friends and her faithful extended family.
A memorial service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church of Boonton at 513 Birch St. on November 2, 2016 at 11:30am.
