MONTVILLE Mary A. (Kearns) Orelup, 88, passed away on Saturday, August 7, 2010 at St. Clare's Hospital in Denville. She was born in Manhattan and grew up in the Riverdale section of the Bronx. She lived in Upper Saddle River for 25 years before moving to Destin, Florida in 1990 and later to Montville in 1995. Mary was a graduate of Georgian Court College and was recognized by the Department of War in the 1940's for her contribution to the Manhattan Project. Following her marriage to Richard B. Orelup, she moved to New Jersey where she was a devoted mother, homemaker and animal lover. Mary was an active volunteer at the Upper Saddle River Public Library, the Valley Hospital, Destin Hospital, Meal-On-Wheels and the American Red Cross. She was a member of the Church of the Presentation Roman Catholic Church. Mary was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She is predeceased by her husband Richard B. Orelup and brothers Robert and Bernard Kearns. Survivors include her children: Lesley A. Branson of Roseboom, NY, Diane M. Orelup and her husband, Jim Guider of Gray, ME, Richard B. Orelup Jr. and his wife Alicia Flahrety of South Portland, ME and Mary C. Orelup and her husband Robert W. Novotny of Montville, NJ; her grandchildren: Lauren, Richard and Margaret. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Memorial Mass on Friday, August 13, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Magnificat Roman Catholic Church, 2 Miller Road, Kinnelon, NJ. Contributions in Mary's memory may be made to the St. Hubert's Animal Welfare Center P.O. BOX 159, 575 Woodland Ave., Madison, NJ 07940. Arrangements were by Mackey Funeral Home (Mackeyfh.com) 107 Essex Ave., Boonton.
