Obituary of Joan Elizabeth Hogh
Joan Elizabeth Hogh (nee Beiermeister) of Boonton Township, NJ passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side on Thursday, August 6, 2026.
Born in October 1939 to Albert and Ora (McCain) Beiermeister at home in Boonton, Joan was a lifelong resident of Boonton and Boonton Township. She had a wonderful childhood with her eight siblings, during a simpler time when Boonton was more farmland and woods. Joan attended Boonton schools, graduating from Boonton High School in 1957.
It was there that the beautiful freshman met the dashing senior, Joseph R. Hogh from Parsippany. They married in November 1957 and settled in on Boonton Avenue near her family. Joan and Joe raised three children and were a large active part of the community.
Joan was a 65-year member of the Boonton Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and was very involved in supporting their efforts. She was also a Boontonite and regularly attended Tuesday night meetings. Joan belonged to the First Presbyterian Church of Boonton and was a Sunday School teacher for many years. She also ran the office of Joe’s business, Ultra Punch & Die, in town.
All this while caring for her husband and children, and eventually her grandchildren. Joan was a proud and loving grandmother and then great-grandmother. She enjoyed spending most of her free time with her large, ever-growing family. Joan and Joe would take off to Susquehanna, PA every weekend starting in the mid-70s to tend to their cattle farm. She was a great cook, providing lots of delicious food for her children and their friends, as well as parties and large groups of people in her organizations.
The love she so freely gave to her family, her friends and her neighbors will be what helps them carry on during this sorrowful time.
Left to treasure their memories are her beloved husband, Joseph; her cherished children, Janice Lade (Charles), Joseph (Cheryl), and James (Leslie); her treasured grandchildren, Thomas, Alyssa, John, Heather, Michael, James Jr., Joseph III, and Matthew, along with their spouses; her adored thirteen great-grandchildren; her sisters, Mae Wiswall; Shirley Schmidt; and Linda Capraun (Richard); numerous nieces and nephews; and her community.
Codey & Mackey Funeral Home of Boonton helped the family arrange what Joan wanted - a simple church service and a gathering of her family and friends afterward. Please join them in the First Presbyterian Church of Boonton on Saturday, August 15th at 11:30am, followed by a repast at the Boonton Fire House on Boonton Avenue.
