Obituary of Christiane Lowcher
Christiane "Christy" Lowcher (née Nedellec), formerly of Boonton, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 19, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Throughout her illness, she demonstrated remarkable strength, perseverance, and determination. She took an active role in her care, earning the admiration of her healthcare team through her thoughtful understanding of her condition and her insightful questions about treatment options. When treatment could no longer control her illness, she made the informed decision to transition to palliative care and, later, hospice care.
Born to Yves and Yvonne Nedellec, who emigrated from France in the 1920s, Christiane grew up surrounded by a close-knit community of lifelong friends. As a young woman, she was a proud member of the "Slick Chicks Club," whose members enjoyed friendships that endured for more than eight decades.
Christiane attended Fairleigh Dickinson University, where she earned a degree in business. She began her career with Curtiss-Wright Corporation before meeting and marrying Robert A. Lowcher in 1953. Together they raised three sons. The family lived in Saddle Brook until 1962, when they moved to Boonton, where Christiane and Robert made their home for more than 50 years.
Following Robert's retirement, the couple enjoyed traveling, often accompanied by Christiane's sister, Yvette, and her husband, Walter Milowic. They also treasured spending time at their condominium on Brigantine Island, where they created many happy memories at the Jersey Shore.
Throughout her life, Christiane was the steadfast champion of her family, offering unwavering support, encouragement, and wisdom. She chose to devote herself to her family as a wife, mother, and homemaker, embracing that role with love and purpose. Those who knew her recognized that she possessed the intellect, determination, and discernment to have excelled in any professional field she chose, including business or law.
Robert, her beloved husband of nearly 60 years, predeceased her in 2013. Christiane is survived by her sons, Alan Y. (Patricia), Jeffrey A. (Dale), and Robert M. (Tracey); eight grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. She took immense pride in each of them and delighted in sharing stories of their accomplishments and adventures.
All who knew Christiane would agree that she was a force of nature, intelligent, independent, strong-willed, and unwavering in her convictions. She knew what she wanted, pursued it with determination, and inspired those around her through her resilience, generosity, and love. She will be deeply missed by her family, lifelong friends, and all whose lives she touched.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 23rd from 3:00 – 7:00pm at Codey & Mackey Funeral Home of Boonton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Boonton on Friday, July 24th at 10:00am, followed by entombment at Gate of Heaven Mausoleum in East Hanover.
