The State of New Jersey lost a devoted public servant with the death of Richard J. Codey.
Throughout his career, “the Gov” was guided by principle, loyalty to his constituents, and an unwavering sense of right and wrong.
To many in funeral service, Dick was not just a public figure but one of our own. A third-generation funeral director, he understood the profession because he lived it. He remained a steadfast friend to funeral service, offering guidance, wisdom, and advocacy rooted in real experience and genuine respect for the work we do.
Those who knew him valued his mentorship, his authenticity, and his ability to connect always with a story, often with a laugh, and never without purpose.
May his legacy of service, integrity, and humanity continue to endure.
