Obituary of Alfred Doyle Carlsen

Alfred Doyle Carlsen, 89, of Towaco, NJ, peacefully passed away in his sleep on Monday, February 19, 2018. Born in Brooklyn, NY to Anton & Dorothea (Loftus) he was one of seven children. He met his wife, Evelyn (Andersen) at the Sunset Park Swimming Pool. Three years later they married in 1950. Alfred proudly served in the US Army in the 58th Div., Ordinance Company during the Korean War. He earned his bachelor's degree in business from NYU. For a majority of his career he was a bank executive with Manufacturers Hanover Trust Company in New York, New York. Alfred was a Free & Accepted Mason, 32nd Degree Scottish Rite and Shriner. He was a Past Master of Manitou Lodge #106 in NY, NY. He was a dedicated Lutheran and a member of King of Kings Lutheran Church in Mountain Lakes. He was also a member of the VFW Post 5481in Montville. In addition to his beloved wife of 67 years, Evelyn, he is survived by his devoted children and their spouses, Steven and Susan Carlsen, Karen and Thomas Skutka, Trudy and John Coppola; loving grandchildren, Christian, Brian, Julie, Frank and Karina. Visiting will be held in the Codey & Mackey Funeral Home, 107 Essex Avenue, Boonton, NJ on Thursday, February 22 from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. A Service celebrating Alfred's life will be offered at King of Kings Lutheran Church, 145 Rt. 46 W, Mountain Lakes, NJ 07046 on Friday, February 23 at 10:30 am. The interment will be private.
