Relatives and friends are invited for visitation at the Codey & Mackey Funeral Home, 107 Essex Avenue, Boonton, NJ 07005 on Monday, May 30, 2016 from 4-6pm. Born in New Haven, CT to Henry Ford Moore and Margaret Lawler, Carolyn lived in the New York metropolitan area, Smithtown, NY, Annandale, VA, Saranac Lake, NY, St. Augustine, FL, and Jacksonville, FL before moving to Boonton Twp. in 2008. Carolyn was dedicated to enriching the lives of the people around her. When she was 14 her mother died, and although her father had been called back from service abroad in WWII, Carolyn took charge of raising her infant sister until her father remarried. She worked hard to put herself through college, and graduated from Southern Connecticut State University with an associate's degree in physical education, and from Stony Brook University with an advanced degree in education. Carolyn was a leader of the Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts, a member of the Catholic Daughters of America, a hospice volunteer, and an Extraordinary Minister of the Catholic Church, visiting the homebound who were ill or in their final stage of life. She combined her entrepreneurial spirit with her passion to help women facing unexpected pregnancies, by opening, with her friends, a non-profit thrift store in Smithtown, Long Island, that raised money for Birthright. After caring for her five children at home for 14 years, Carolyn began to work part-time as a high-school referee, phys-ed teacher, and real estate agent, eventually taking full-time positions as classroom teacher at St. Michael's School in Annandale, VA, St. Bernard's School in Saranac Lake, NY, and St. Joseph's School in Jacksonville, FL. Carolyn was an adventurer, seeking out educational, artistic, cultural, and nature experiences for herself and her family, but her greatest trait was her friendship, which she offered abundantly and unconditionally to everyone she encountered throughout her life. Carolyn was predeceased by her beloved husband, Vincent Zamoyta, in 2009. Surviving are her devoted children, Ruth Zamoyta of Millburn, NJ, Mark Zamoyta of Santa Barbara, CA, Paul Zamoyta of Big Bear Lake, CA, Joseph Zamoyta of Canberra, Australia, and Margaret Fenwick of New York City; a brother, Gregory Moore and sister, Sandra McCann; also nine grandchildren, all of whom are grateful for having been loved by this extraordinary woman, and are happy that she is finally at peace.
