Donald O. Amari, 79, of Montville, NJ, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, March 15, 2016. Born in Boonton, NJ to Louis and Olga Amari, Don was raised in Boonton and Lake Hiawatha and graduated from Boonton High School in 1954. After graduation he apprenticed for 4 years with Reaction Motors in Rockaway. While an apprentice he met Barbara Braun and later married in 1960, when they moved to Montville and raised their family. Mr. Amari was a machinist and owner of Amari Machine Shop Service in Montville for 50 years. He also spent 18 years driving with Dial-A-Ride in Montville, retiring in 2006. Don was also a musician, playing the trumpet, guitar, banjo, French horn and baritone. He was the founder and director of the Jacksonville Chapel Concert band. Surviving are his beloved wife of 55 years, Barbara; devoted daughter, Cynthia Eckert and her husband, Frederick; a dear brother, Louis Amari; loving grandchildren, Abagail, Frederick IV and Leah. He was predeceased by his son, Jeremy and a sister, Carole Newcombe. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 18th from 2-4 & 7-9pm at the Codey & Mackey Funeral Home, 107 Essex Ave., Boonton, NJ. A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, April 17, 2016 at 3:00pm at Jacksonville Chapel, 264 Jacksonville Rd., Lincoln Park, NJ 07035.
