Phyllis Burkart Reminsky, 87, of Montville, NJ, passed away on Thursday, November 12, 2015 after a brief illness. Born in Glendale, Queens, NY born to her parents, Helen and Valentine Burkart, Phyllis came to Boonton in 1934. She graduated from Boonton High school in 1946. She went to work for the United States Treasury Dept. taking the train every day to New York City for 4 years to "pound the typewriter keys". Phyllis married in 1947, moved to Lake Hiawatha and started a family. Being the dedicated, loving, Mom she spent many years as a Cub Scout, Boy Scout, Brownie and Girl Scout leader. Then moving back to Boonton in 1969 Phyllis was active in her community. She played in the First Reformed Church of Boonton Handbell Choir for 13 years, was treasurer of the Boonton Friendship Club, member of the Boontonites, a Red Hat Society Lady and worked the voting poles for 15 years. Phyllis worked 7 ½ years for the Lake Valhalla Club and moved to Montville where she lived independently for more than 20 years. Phyllis enjoyed life with her family, children and grandchildren, and through the last several years was fortunate to travel to see many parts of the world. A diagnosis only in the beginning of October 2015 started her on her final journey which ended on November 12th, 2105. Phyllis is predeceased by her husband of 45 years, Aloys Philip, and her brother, Russell Burkart. She is survived by her sister-in-law Kay, her 4 children Philip, Lydia, Alexis and Thomas, her 6 grandchildren Camilla, Alexsandr, Jared, Seth, Colleen and Dana, and her 1 great-grandchild Eric. We will all miss you "Crazy Panda Lady"! Relatives and friends are invited for visitation in the Codey & Mackey Funeral Home, 107 Essex Avenue, Boonton, NJ 07005 on Sunday, November 15th from 3:30pm – 6:30pm. A Funeral Service will be held in the funeral home on Monday, November 16th at 11:00am. The interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Boonton.
