William Pyontek, 86, a lifelong resident of Boonton, NJ, passed away suddenly at home on Monday, March 16, 2015. Bill was born and lived in his hometown of Boonton where he owned "Bill's Pool Hall" for several years. He was an expert pool player and an aficionado in that sport. He served in the Merchant Marines and the U.S. Army, was wounded in action during the Korean War, and awarded the Purple Heart. Mr. Pyontek was known as an excellent driver and drove people privately as well as driving commercially for many years as a Truck Driver with BMX (Boonton Morristown Express), retiring in the 1980's. In his spare time he enjoyed his family, teaching his grandchildren to play pool, and doing puzzles. Surviving are his beloved wife of 62 years, Helen F. (nee Virostek); devoted children and their spouses, William C. and Dr. Maria Pyontek, Janet and Richard Kalwa, Marlene and Gary Flyte; loving grandchildren, Jason (fianc Jessica), Christopher, and Kaitlyn Kalwa - Randy, Brian, Billy, and Kyle Flyte. He was predeceased by his brothers, Albert, John, Paul, and Fred. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the family at the Codey & Mackey Funeral Home, 107 Essex Avenue, Boonton, NJ 07005 on Wednesday, March 18th from 4 - 8 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at Sts. Cyril & Methodius R.C. Church, 215 Hill Street, Boonton on Thursday, March 19th at 10:00 am.
